]]> We are excited to now offer Adult Day services at St. Patrick Senior Center, with structured daily activities designed to bring more joy, connection, and energy to the day.

What is it?   St. Patrick’s Adult Day Program offers a warm, caring, and fun place to spend the day. Participants can enjoy social activities, creative projects, wellness and movement, games, music, technology, and opportunities to learn and try something new.  They can also take part in the center’s programs and activities, along with individualized programming that supports both the mind and body.  Lunch is also provided

What times?   Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Who leads it?  Valencia Martin, our Adult Day Program Director, holds a Master of Social Work from Wayne State University. Valencia created the daily programming and oversees the Adult Day Program, working directly with participants and helping make each day welcoming, engaging, and enjoyable.

Who can register?  Adults age 55 and older who may enjoy a structured day filled with activities, social connection, and support.

]]> St. Pat’s Ageless Innovations offers two unique opportunities for meaningful work and extra income – funded by a generous grant from the Thome Enterprise/Initiative Program. Now in its second year, the program has been greatly received, with most classes filling up quickly.

Mature Adults open to short-term training for guaranteed employment can sign up for our Community Health Worker Training.  For those thinking about opening a business or a non-profit, our Entrepreneurship Training is perfect.

(To be eligible for Ageless Innovations, you must be 55 years old, a resident of Michigan, and possess a high school diploma.  Participants may sign up for only one of the two programs.)

]]>  On June 13 and 14, 60-plus St Pat people ventured on a two-day extravaganza about an hour north – including breakfast at the famous Tony’s off I-75, a viewing of “The Story of Barak Obama” at Flint’s McCree Theatre, dinner at Blackstone’s Smokehouse, an overnight stay at the Hampton Inn, prime seats at the Midwest Invitational Rodeo, a visit to Stepping Stones Waterfall Park, and to top it all off (whew!) lunch and wine tasting at Whole Hearted Winery in New Hudson (see some brief video highlights.  Congratulations to SaTrice and company for providing such a wonderful time!

]]> At our Irish Festival on Sunday, May 4 the Fraternal Order of United Irishmen surprised St. Pat with a tremendous donation of nearly $20,000 – proceeds from the Corktown Races, and donations placed through the race website. This was completely unexpected, and means a great deal to all of us at St. Pat. These are challenging times for all non-profits, and we will make great use of these funds to meet urgent and sometimes unexpected needs. There are no better friends to St. Pat than the FOUIs! ]]> On Sunday, May 3, the 49th annual St. Pat Irish Festival attracted a wonderful mix of old and new friends.  Even with the elevator being renovated, the fun was still happening.  We had 15 acts, a total of nearly 100 performers on three stages; bartending by our great friends the FOUIs, both live and silent auctions; and the famous “Chair of Cheer,” Irish Quilt, and $10,000 drawings.  Thanks to everyone who came out and supported us – the funding provided by this event means a great deal during these challenging times for non-profits.   Below are just a few pictures, plus a list of raffle winners. ]]> A couple weeks before our March 26 Caregiving event, Detroit PBS taped a number of interviews with people devoted to caregiving, which are available in a series called “Caregiving Conversations” – which will appear on the website (detroitpbs.org) and also on TV over the next several months on “One Detroit,” which airs Thursday nights at 7:30.   Interviews include a number of St. Pat people – including Berneta Esaw, Fran Dorn, Leroy Calloway, Frances Lewis, Bill Greer, Pat Rencher, Kimberly Wray-Norman, Katie Moylan, and SaTrice Coleman-Betts.
