Our beautiful, historic home – the former St Patrick and Girls Catholic Central schools – was dedicated in 1892, making it 131 years old this year. Considering it opened when electric lights were a fairly new invention, our building needs some serious repairs and updating this year. The 2023 St. Pat Building Fund will help make this happen.
From fixing the roof to updating the electrical system to repairing plasterwork and structural concerns, some of this work has been completed or is underway.
Thanks to our great friend, Mike Kelly of Environmental Maintenance Engineers, a new dining room floor has been installed, following damage caused by last summer’s severe flooding. This is just one example of many similar projects that will need to happen.
Our goal is to keep the building well-maintained and safe – so we can continue being the “home away from home” for so many Detroiters!
