On June 23, St Pat people packed the auditorium for a visit from the Gathering Orchestra. This amazing 18-piece big band ensemble of early career musicians was conceived by the Carr Center’s late artistic director Geri Allen, and is directed by another local jazz legend, Rodney Whitaker. Conducting the group were Prof Vincent Chandler of Wayne State, and Prof Walter Blanding of Michigan State.
