St Pat is one of three local organizations that have received $75,000 grants from Comcast – part of Project UP, the company’s billion dollar effort to advance digital equity.
St. Pat, the Detroit Housing Commission, and Human-I-T are using the funding to provide digital “navigators,” who work with individuals and families individually and in groups. Participants learn how to better utilize their digital devices, and also about the ins and outs of the internet.
According to a nationwide study, digital navigators are critical to closing the digital divide and helping more people get online. Those who have worked with navigators reported such benefits as obtaining better health care, receiving additional support with basic needs, even finding a new job.
Here’s a quick video with St. Pat members extolling the benefits of the program.
Thanks again to Comcast for all they do for us!
