Comcast Awards Grants to St. Pat and Two Other Organizations to Advance Digital Equity

Dozens of Detroiters – including local dignitaries – were on hand at St. Pat June 14 as Comcast announced it is awarding three Detroit organizations grants of $75,000 each – part of Project UP, the company’s billion dollar effort to advance digital equity.

St. Pat – along with Detroit Housing Commission and Human-I-T – will launch digital navigator programs to assist individuals and families with accessing the internet and digital skills programs.

According to a nationwide study, digital navigators are critical to closing the digital divide and helping more people get online.  Those who worked with navigators reported such benefits as obtaining better health care, receiving additional support with basic needs, even finding a new job.

In the days ahead, St Pat will be reaching out to members and other Detroiters to offer digital navigation services.
