We’re sending a big thank you to our friends at the Detroit Institute of Arts! Today, the DIA invited St. Pat members to attend an afternoon concert featuring the Rollie Tussing Trio performing some amazing country blues. Bus transportation was also provided as part of the outing, which was coordinated and hosted by St Pat’s Jackie Sims. Here’s a picture of the group. Thanks, DIA!

Like many people and organizations in this community, we are enormously thankful for Pat Johnson. Again this year, he is arranging all the sound and entertainment – on three stages, by the way – for our Irish Festival on April 21. Thankful Thursday: MGM Grand Detroit

St Pat Center is tremendously grateful for this wonderful community institution, which has supported us in so many ways – sponsoring our events, providing meals and other services, and even sending their employee team to help out around the center. Most recently, MGM worked with us on our 50th Anniversary Dinner – providing grants, discounts, and so much more so that we could celebrate in style at this world class venue! Thanks for everything, MGM Grand Detroit!

Thankful Thursdays! Doug Kurtis, long-time director of the Corktown Races, has been a great friend of St. Pat for many years. Not only do proceeds from the races help support our programs, but Doug is always thinking about us in many other ways, too. When the races were suspended during Covid, for instance, he came up with a monogrammed face mask promotion that raised $10,000. Thankful Thursday: New Equipment!

We are grateful for a grant from Forgotten Harvest for a new state of the art refrigeration/freezer unit – and also to Detroit Area Agency on Aging for its support of our new hot table, tray warmer, and 12 burner stove. Our kitchen is more up to date than ever. In the pictures, Culinary Chief Temika Wallace, along with Shay Ross, Ron Treadwell and Doris Box, pose with the new equipment.

St. Pat is tremendously grateful for Ms. Dorothy Howard – a wonderful and constant presence in the dining room, where she sells snacks and other items, many of which she donates herself. Through her efforts, and with the help of Activities Director Joanne Carter, thousands of dollars are raised every year for our programs. Thankful Thursdays: Forgotten Harvest

Thankful Thursdays: Once a week, the Forgotten Harvest truck squeezes into the crowded parking lot at St. Pat – delivering all sorts of food items that help offset the cost of hundreds of nutritious and delicious meals prepared each week by our culinary staff. They’ve supported us in many other ways, too – including granting us $40,000 for the installation of our new cooler and freezer (more on that later). The Dwyer Marble & Stone Company has supported St. Pat in countless ways over the past 40-plus years. Owned and operated by the nephews of our beloved founder, Sister Mary Watson, they have helped us fix up the building, sponsored many of our events, and volunteered their time and talent in many other ways.
