One of the first steps is learning the legal ins and outs.
Join us at St. Patrick Senior Center for a FREE community workshop: “Forming and maintaining your for-profit, nonprofit, or social enterprise”
The date is Tuesday, April 1 from 10:30 to 12 Noon, at 58 Parsons in Detroit. A light meal will be served.
We’ll explain confusing legal topics for people looking to start a business or enterprise to better their community. The presentation will start with a general overview of different entities used to start or maintain an organization.
Other topics will include Entity Types: Sole proprietorships, partnerships, LLC, PLLC, C-corp., S-corp., and nonprofit organizations. We’ll discuss entity formation considerations, such as the formation process, governance, management structure, liability protections, tax considerations, and financing.
The program will be presented by student attorneys (under the supervision of experienced and licensed attorneys) in the Wayne State University Law School Business and Community Law Clinic (BCLC). The BCLC provides free legal services to qualifying community-based businesses and nonprofit organizations that aspire to create social good and impact to revitalize Detroit and Michigan.
Sponsored by Wayne State University Law School Business and Community Law Clinic, the Wayne State University School of Social Work, and St. Patrick Senior Center.
