Mature Adults open to short-term training for guaranteed employment can sign up for our Community Health Worker Training.  For those thinking about opening a business or a non-profit, our Entrepreneurship Training is perfect.

(To be eligible for Ageless Innovations, you must be 55 years old, a resident of Michigan, and possess a high school diploma.  Participants may sign up for only one of the two programs.)

Our activities department not only provides many opportunities for our members to stay active, but there are also a number of special services offered. And when the weather is warm, St Pat is abuzz with activities outside, too – including dance and exercise, specialty sales and more.

These are just a few of the offerings available:

• Over a dozen dance and movement classes, including beginning and advanced Hustle, Belly Dance, Chicago Step, Ballroom, Tai Chi, Zumba Gold, Chair Exercise, Enhance Fitness, Matt Yoga and Chair Yoga
• Conveniences like Wednesday haircuts, mens and womens clothing rooms, and periodic yard sales
• Computer training in our own second floor computer lab. St. Pat has long been at the forefront of helping seniors enhance their computer skills
• Craft-making and other artistic endeavors
• Our very own gospel choir, which performs to wide acclaim
• The Book Club, which meets to discuss the latest fiction or non-fiction they’re reading –  and has also produced two well-attended book fairs.

Perhaps the most exciting part of the program was developing a “pitch” – a presentation to potential funders to be rehearsed at the ceremony, which was held on December 1 at the Institute.  Like in the first class, each of the pitches was innovative, creative and dynamic

Business ideas included project management, grief counseling, property development, sustainable clothing and sewing, an urban art gallery, and making film documentaries

Here’s to the graduates: Carol Davis, Darrell Waller, Rochelle Morton, Audery Childress, Octavia B. Foster and Eric Longs.

What The Hub Can Do For You

We’re ready to help anyone who wants to learn – smart phone texting and photography, video chatting via Zoom and Facetime, sending emails, browsing the web, identifying scams, employing safe passwords, digital resumes and job searching, and more.

Our Digital Navigators  

Our team of digital navigators – Rosie, Deborah, Jimmy, Kimberly, and Sago – are all St. Pat members who have gone through our tech training themselves.  They are assisted by nursing and medical students from Madonna University, Michigan State, Wayne State, and Arizona State.

Stop in and see them at the computer lab. No appointment is necessary

Our program is also available at other locations across the area:  Kemeny, Patton, and Roberto Clemente Rec Centers in Detroit, the Ernest T. Ford Center in Highland Park, and a number of senior residences

Tech Hub Hours

Our second floor computer lab is available for open computer use and one-on-one training on Monday and Tuesday from 11 AM to 2 PM; Wednesday from Noon to 2 PM; Thursday from 10 AM to 2 PM and Friday from 12 PM to to 2 PM – plus occasional Saturdays

Learning with Northstar

Northstar Digital Literacy helps you learn and test your knowledge at your own pace.  It’s great for beginners and those looking to build their expertise – and covers basic computer skills, using the internet and email, social media, programs including Microsoft and Excel, and much more

To get started, simply stop into the computer lab during open lab hours, and talk to one of our digital navigators.
